The History of You
Description
The History of You is an interactive fiction piece that immerses the audience in a narrative across three generations, showing them how their choices along the way affect both their own generation and the generations of the future. By breaking down and identifying the components of intergenerational trauma and its negative effects in our explainer, my team and I hope to help our audience to become more aware of how this implicit force is affecting their life. While we know that this is not a direct solution, we were inspired to create this project because we believe increased awareness is the first step towards breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma.

About
I co-created this game with a team of 5 other students during my senior year at Stanford in CS247-Design for Understanding. We focused on intergenerational trauma because we hoped to understand how generational and cultural trauma from older generations impacts the way younger generations seek help for their mental health. The interactive fiction component allows users to place themselves in realistic situations and see how their ancestors affect their present decisions and world frameworks.
